  • For most gamers’ list of waiting-for-upgrade peripheral, there is always a crucial item left behind, a boom arm stand. A good microphone does not necessarily mean good audio quality, but do not look in the wrong direction to try to get the best out of it in the first place. Without some knowledge base, it is tricky to use plugins for improving sound quality.
  • So it is better not to get yourself entangled but to go for the most straightforward way: Set the level for the mic right and keep the mic as close as possible to the sound source with a proper angle. The top priority of an arm stand is to help with the talking range and angle. It also has a huge edge of convenience for setup and cable management over the desktop stand that comes with microphones.

  • For those in the heavyweight range with an average of a 1.5-pound metal body, it is not every arm stand job to hold them up securely for a long time.
  • Given the average weight an arm stand should carry in most cases, It is crazy that the FIFINE BM63 can handle around 4.4 pounds of weight, which is more than two of the heaviest desktop mics. No one will actually have two mics on one stand, but since it can hold up such mass weights while you do not need it to do that all the time, the durability will be crazy too.
  • Mind you: the BM63 does hold up a wide range of weight of microphones, but because it uses a universal 5/8” thread, there will not be any problem of using any microphone with a standard thread with it.

  • It is wrong to assume that the BM63 arm stand can only be found in some expensive setup and holding a heavy-duty microphone. You do not have to have a quite heavy mic to get the best out of it and to keep the arms staying in place and not bumping up and down.
  • One of the crucial jobs that it does is to be distraction-free. Even if you are using a lightweight mic, the arm will not bounce around or fall over even just a little bit after you put it in place. It literally sits still.
  • The built-in stiff springs make it possible. And because of such a mechanism, the convenience keeps on coming. You do not have to lose and tighten back again the joint connection every time to set a proper angle.
  • More importantly, the point of an arm stand is about sound improvement. The last thing you want to do is to generate noises on the stand to let the microphone pick up. Thus, the noise-free movement of the arm is the convenience that you mostly need. The FIFINE BM63 does it and will do it well in a long term!

  • It handles either a heavy or lightweight mic well, it also fits in a large or a small desk without any trouble. And with a 2 inches gap, the C-clamp is able to clip on most desks with a flat surface.
  • Once you have the arm stand installed on your table, the microphone and the cable will always be connected so that you do not have to set up everything every single time. Whenever you need the microphone, you just pull it in front of your face.
  • But that also brings us to the crucial question of whether the arms are long enough to cover the length from one side of the desk to the other side or from the back to the front. There is no better way to put this, but the BM63 has one of the longest arms, up to 15.5 inches each, for the price. That is a big positive if you have a big desk. And you do not have to worry about leaning to the side to record vocals or shout at your teammate in-game.
  • As for the range of the angle for adjustment, the arm can be as down low as 45 degrees off the table if you are slouching in your chair, or can be overhead as well if you like it to be in that position.
  • The redeeming feature is that it comes with three Velcro strips for cable management. Even without a cable slot on the arms, everything will still look nice and tidy. You do not have to worry about running over or getting stuck the cable on the floor.
